Books and ladders combine for family fun

Library assistant Shari Hunt sorts through books at the Prospect Library. An upcoming Books and Ladders fundraiser will benefit the library and the Prospect fire department.

PROSPECT — Books and ladders are a powerhouse.

“Books represent the library and ladders represent the fire department,” said Jill Hambley, the Prospect Community Library director, about the name of the library's upcoming fundraiser. “It's very important to partner with other organizations and individuals in the community.”

The Prospect Community Library and Prospect Volunteer Fire Department are joining forces to help the community and bring some musical entertainment to the Valentine's Day weekend Feb. 16 at its family-friendly event Books & Ladders at the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department hall, 373 Main St.

Food, children's activities, auction baskets and a 50/50 raffle will be available. Other activities include Dragonfly Balloons, sci-fi movie characters, the character Buddy from PBS Kids' “Dinosaur Train” and a kids' corner.

All proceeds will benefit Prospect library's remodeling project and the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department.

This is an excerpt from a story that appears in Friday's Butler Eagle.
