Thefts reported at hockey complex

CRANBERRY TWP — Police said a New Brighton man stole a hockey stick and credit and debit cards at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

Damian Kyle Yandura, 29, faces felony charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and access device fraud as well as a misdemeanor charge of identity theft.

According to Cranberry police, Yandura was entering locker rooms at the sports complex and stealing numerous items.

Officer Ryan Slack's affidavit states he was dispatched to the complex shortly before 10 p.m. Monday and found Yandura in front of the main entrance. Inside, the affidavit states, staff advised Slack that Yandura had been stealing items from locker rooms in the facility.

Slack says he saw a Target bag and a hockey stick near Yandura. The hockey stick had one victim's name on it, while a receipt in the Target bag showed the card used to make the purchase was reported to complex staff as stolen, according to police. That card, along with another with the victim's name, was found in Yandura's possession, the affidavit states.

Yandura has previously pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking, all felonies, court records indicate.

Records do not show if Yandura has employed a defense attorney. Yandura remains out of jail on $25,000 unsecured bail.
