Pittsburgh Pirate Felipe Vazquez was arrested Tuesday morning on a felony warrant out of Lee County, Fla., charging him with one count each of computer pornography involving solicitation of a child and providing obscene materials to a child.
The Pennsylvania State Police assisted agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement with taking the 28-year-old pitcher, who is from Saint Cloud, Fla., into custody in Pittsburgh.
A statement released by investigators reveals the case involving Vazquez began in August after police obtained information about an alleged sexual relationship between the him and a 13-year old female victim from Lee County. According to authorities, the victim, who now 15 years old, continued having a relationship with Vazquez via text messaging and received a video in July from him that showed him performing a sex act. Additionally, Vazquez allegedly sent the girl text messages suggesting they would meet for sex after his baseball season was over.
