Michelle Kenyon

Butler High School alumnus Dennis S. Pace ofHighlands Ranch, Colo., graduated with a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Denver. He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Slippery Rock University and a master’s degree in mathematics from Youngstown State University.

He was ranked in the top 20 percent in the William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition and was named outstanding graduate student in mathematics at Youngstown State.

He graduated from Butler High School in 1999.

He is engaged to Megan Daut and is employed by the Colorado School of Mines.

He is the son of Wesley and Elizabeth Pace of Evans City.

Michelle Kenyon, a 2019 graduate of Butler Senior High School, was recently awarded the Kit Barkus Memorial Scholarship. This $1,500 scholarship was put in place to honor the late Kristopher “Kit” Barkus, a gifted musician and talented athlete.

Michelle shares his love and passion of music. She has played the violin since age 10. Michelle has participated in many music ensembles including Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras since 2015, Butler Area School District orchestras, Butler Chamber Orchestra, Butler Rock Orchestra, Butler all-school musicals, Butler A Cappella group, and Butler Strolling Strings. She is a 2017 and 2018 PMEA All-State musician.

Michelle has held many leadership roles in both TRYPO and Butler school district ensembles. During her time with TRYPO, she had the opportunity to perform abroad in Vienna, Prague and Budapest.

She plans to attend Duquesne University in the fall majoring in violin performance and music education.

Applications for the Kit Barkus Memorial Scholarship are available in the Butler High School music department.
