Kittanning woman hurt in 2-car crash on Rte. 356
BUFFALO TWP — Police continue to investigate a two-car crash Monday night on Route 356 at Buffalo Plaza that left a woman hospitalized with serious injuries.
The accident occurred around 9:10 p.m. when a 16-year-old Sarver girl, who was traveling north in a Ford Fiesta, attempted to turn into the shopping plaza.
The girl, who police did not identify, failed to yield the right of way and struck the front of a southbound Suzuki SX4 driven by Sara McCall, 32, of Kittanning.
Police said the teen was in the left-hand turning lane and she had the green light, but not the arrow.
The collision left McCall trapped in her vehicle. Buffalo Township and Sarver volunteer firefighters were called, and they extricated her from the wreckage.
She was taken by ambulance to Freeport High School, where a medical helicopter landed and flew her to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Her condition was not known Tuesday.
The girl, police said, refused medical treatment.
The wreck closed the road for up to an hour. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed.
Police said they have not decided if charges would be filed in the crash.
