Arrest made in Mars bomb threats

Adams Township police have made an arrest in connection with threats at Mars High School this week, district officials said shortly after 1 p.m., in a notice on the district's website.

The notice did not provide any information about the suspect or what they have been charged with. The district said “the actor ... will face disciplinary action in accordance with District policy as well as criminal charges, prosecution, and restitution for any costs incurred by local first responders and the District as a result of these threats.”

District officials said earlier Friday that Adams Township police had completed a thorough sweep of all the district's buildings and deemed the schools to be safe.

The district was closed Friday after officials said “rumors of possible violence,” including a bomb threat and shooter, were discovered Thursday.

The district had evacuated Mars High school on Tuesday and Wednesday, after bomb threats were found in the school. Both those threats were found to be unsubstantiated.

An updated story will appear in the Butler Eagle.
