Area marching bands to compete in Butler County Band Festival
Butler's Art Bernardi Stadium should be rather loud Wednesday night.
This year's Butler County Band Festival starts at 7 p.m. Marching bands from seven high schools and one university will perform a halftime show in a back-to-back showcase, according to Jeff Kroner, the Golden Tornado Marching Band's director.
“This is kind of the Super Bowl for everybody in band,” Kroner said.
Marching bands from Butler, Seneca Valley, Slippery Rock, Karns City, Moniteau, Knoch and Mars high schools will all perform after an opening presentation by Slippery Rock University's marching band.
The event lasts about two hours and costs $5 to attend. Tickets sold at the gate will benefit Butler's band, while those wanting to support other schools' bands should buy tickets from members of those bands.
Each school's performance will include three or four songs, Kroner said, and last about 10 minutes.
