Lake Arthur water rescue team called back

Butler County water rescue teams searched Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park for a person reported to be struggling in the lake near the Route 422 bridge Friday night.

Butler County Water Rescue Team 300 members were searching Lake Arthur Friday night after a report of someone struggling in the water.

The call to Butler County Emergency Center at 8:53 p.m. was from a passing motorist, according to scanner reports. Emergency responders were told over the scanner that the driver said she was passing over the Route 422 bridge near Moraine State Park and thought she saw someone struggling in the lake.

Emergency responders gathered at the Bear Run Boat Launch and put their boats in there.

The search was called off at 10:17 p.m. and firefighters and members from team 300 and others rescue teams from Unionville, Harmony and Portersville were released.

Officials at the scene said park rangers on duty would likely continue searching through out the night and continue Saturday.
