Butler breaks records at indoor meet
Butler's girls broke three team records and the Golden Tornado boys snapped one during the Pennsylvania Indoor Track and Field State Championships Sunday at Penn State University.
Noah Beveridge finished second to Liam Conway of O.J. Roberts in the boys mile, breaking his own school record while winning the silver medal. Beveridge ran the mile in 4 minutes, 16.01 seconds. Conway's winning time was 4:15.21.
Liz Simms was part of all three records broken by the Tornado girls. She joined Chesna Tomko, Maggie Welty and Erin LeMay on the 4x800 meter relay team that placed fourth. Their time of 9:33.82 broke the old school record by nine seconds.
Butler's 4x200 placed fifth with a school-record time of 1:45.28. Gabrielle Boden, Maddie Tonini, Tomko and Simms ran that event.
Simms placed ninth in the 800 meters with a school-record time of 2:17.37.
Butler's 4x400 team of Tomko, Tonini, Boden and Simms placed sixth with a season-best time of 4:00.89. Jena Reinheimer placed sixth in the shot put and Butler's boys distance medley relay unit of Brett Brady, Jake Wolfrum, Tim Porter and Beveridge placed eighth.
