Rains close roads, flood basements in Butler County this morning

Steady rain is keeping Butler County dispatchers and emergency crews busy and homeowners and motorists bothered.

A number of calls for flooding on low-lying roads and in basements have been racked up since Thursday evening.

Like the rain itself, there's been no let up this morning.

Renfrew Road in Penn Township and Center Street in Callery remain closed due to flooding, according to the Butler County Communications Center.

Emergency crews are also dealing with a mud slide on Leslie Road in Middlesex Township, near Browns Hill and Deer Creek roads.

About 6:30 a.m., Buffalo Township police were called to check on a possible landslide at Butler and Ralston roads. After an initial call for traffic control, the area was later cleared.

Between 6 and 7 a.m., flooding has been reported on Leslie Road in Middlesex Township, Evergreen Mill Road in Harmony, Dunbar Avenue in Evans City, Studebaker Road in Worth Township and Arlington Avenue in Butler Township.

Earlier in the morning, Front Street in Zelienople and Route 38 in Summit Township were reported to be flooded.

Basements, too, were taking on water at home dotting the county.

A flood watch in Butler County remains in effect until 6 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.
