Butler Twp. police will hold annual citizens academy
BUTLER TWP — Butler Township police will hold their annual citizens police academy starting next month.
The program, which will be on seven consecutive Tuesdays beginning Jan. 16, will include classes on criminal law and investigations, domestic violence, patrol duties, vehicle laws and traffic stops, use of force, the judicial system, and other areas of law.
The classes will be at the township park at 468 S. Duffy Road and various other sites in the township.
Applications for the program are available at the police department or the township municipal building, 290 S. Duffy Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The applications must be returned to the township police office no later than 4 p.m. Jan. 9.
There is no charge for the program, which is open to everyone, but priority will be given to township residents and business owners.
Individuals accepted into the program will be notified by the police department.
