All across America we are living the consequences of the abuse of drugs and alcohol.
Over the last 20 years The Butler Eagle has printed personal ads — sometimes 60 to 70 lines, six days a week, 52 weeks a year — that reminded us of the drug and alcohol problem.
Such tenacity! So much money spent! Now, is it time for others to place ads in the Personals section? No name calling (that doesn’t solve anything). No blaming. No finger-pointing. No bullying. No politics. No vulgarity.
Let’s place words of hope, prayers, solutions to the problem of drug and alcohol abuse in our area.
I remember a song from church camp that had a chorus that spoke of “heartaches, broken people, such lives are why you died on Calvary. Your touch is all I long for, you have given life to me.”
We need to help our community to get their lives back. Some words of hope in the personal ads would help.
