Slippery Rock faces Sharon Friday
SLIPPERY ROCK — After scoring just 13 points in three weeks and suffering back-to-back shutouts for the first time 16 years, the Slippery Rock High football team needed something positive to happen against Mercer.
The Rockets got a lot of positives — 43 of them to be exact, as in 43 points in a 36-point win against the Mustangs.
Now, with Sharon coming to town for a key Region 2 matchup, Slippery Rock is hoping that renewed offensive firepower and confidence will spill over into Friday night.
Kickoff is 7 p.m.
Sharon is coming off a 27-6 win over rival Hickory.
The Tigers have had great success against Slippery Rock over the years, leading the series 21-6.
Sharon coach Jim Wildman is 16-1 against the Rockets in two stints as the Tigers' coach.
A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
