Peters waives preliminary hearing

BUTLER TWP — The case against the mother of a 4-year-old boy police say was sexually assaulted and later bled to death will move to county court, after she waived her preliminary hearing Thursday morning.

Workers at the court of District Judge Kevin O'Donnell said that MacKenzie Paige Peters, 21, of Butler, waived the hearing on two felony counts of child endangerment at about 8:45 Thursday morning. She had been scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before O'Donnell at 10:15 a.m.

Peters was arrested and charged in connection with the death of her son, Bentley Thomas Miller, days after police charged her boyfriend, Keith Jordan Lambing, with rape and other charges following Bentley's death.

Peters was charged after police say they found “evidence of drugs and/or drug paraphernalia” in a room at the Super 8 motel in Butler Township. Investigators have said that Peters and Lambing had been staying at the motel for four to six days before Bentley died. Lambing is alleged to have assaulted Bentley in the room after Peters left for work on the morning of March 21.

According to court workers Peters' next court date is a formal arraignment on June 20 in the county court system. She remains free on $25,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.
