Unoccupied trailer destroyed by fire
CLEARFIELD TWP — A blaze destroyed an unoccupied trailer Sunday night.
Chief Rob McLafferty of the Herman Volunteer Fire Company said arson is not suspected, but a cause has not been determined.
“There was too much damage,” McLafferty said.
A state police fire marshal will inspect the site today at 619½ Clearfield Road.
No one was injured. The trailer is owned by Joseph and Catherine McKain, who live on another property.
McLafferty said there were no problems.
“We had the fire knocked down in five minutes,” he said.
McLafferty was glad to see a large turnout of volunteer firefighters despite the 8:52 p.m. 911 call coming during a Steelers playoff game.
“I couldn't believe it,” he said.
Roughly 50 firefighters responded to the call. The East Butler, Saxonburg and Winfield Township volunteer fire departments assisted Herman.
East Butler Ambulance also responded. Crews cleared the scene at 10:39 p.m.
