Butler County votes Trump

Butler County voters, who went overwhelmingly for Donald Trump on Tuesday, might be on to something as the Republican candidate seemed to be closing in early Wednesday morning in on a surprising and improbable upset victory.

Butler County, which Fox News co-Host Clayton Morris called Tuesday one of the “reddest” places in Pennsylvania, delivered Trump a landslide victory — at least within the county’s boarders. Voters throughout the county cast 24,542 ballots for Trump on Tuesday, according to unofficial results posted online Tuesday night. Trump’s 70 percent of the county vote dwarfed the 9,835 votes cast for Democrat Hillary Clinton, who came away with just over 28 percent.

And the county’s love affair with the billionaire and real estate mogul seemed to be reflected by communities across the country and the state. As of this writing, Trump had won battleground states of North Carolina, Florida, and Ohio, and seemed to be steaming toward a victory in Pennsylvania as well. As of 12:30 a.m. Trump held a lead of about 2,000 votes over Clinton for Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes.

A win in the keystone state would put Trump within six votes of the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the presidency, while Clinton lagged behind with 209 electoral college votes.

If Trump manages a win in Pennsylvania it would be the fourth state to flip for the Republican four years after voting to elect President Barack Obama to a second term in office. Florida, Ohio and Iowa, the other three states Trump managed to flip on Tuesday, had already been called for the Republican.
