Truck driver injured in crash
JACKSON TWP — A tractor-trailer driver was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries Sunday morning after he hit an abandoned car along Interstate 79.
The wreck happened around 8:45 a.m. on the southbound portion of the highway.
The car was parked on the shoulder and appeared to have been broken down and abandoned for several days, said Brian Dambaugh, Harmony assistant fire chief. The owner of the car was not at the scene Sunday.
The car was destroyed by the crash and the tractor-trailer also was damaged as it ended up partially in the woods.
Crews stayed on the scene for more than two hours while both vehicles were towed away and debris was cleared.
State police were investigating the cause of the accident. A police report was not yet available this morning.
