BlueSox fall to W.Va

Tyler Sullivan and Nick Stotler each had a pair of hits, but Butler fell 3-2 at West Virginia Friday night as the Prospect League resumed play after the All-Star break.

Pavin Parks got the loss, suffering through a tough third inning when the Miners got all their runs.

Kason Kimbrell pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the BlueSox.

Butler led 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning on a RBI single by Russ Clark before West Virginia’s big inning.

Austin Norman had the big blow in the frame for the Miners with a two-run double against Parks.

Dan Ward also had a RBI double in the frame for West Virginia.

The BlueSox closed the gap to 3-2 with a run in the top of the fourth on a RBI single by Sullivan that scored Clark, but could not scratch across another run against winning pitcher Michael Syrett.

West Virginia used four pitchers in the win.

James Doubet worked a scoreless ninth for the save.

Kristian Webb and James Meeker each doubled for Butler, which will play at West Virginia again Saturday night before returning home to host Champion City Sunday at Kelly Automotive Park.
