Farmer injured in equipment accident
CONCORD TWP — A farmer was stuck in a hay elevator at a barn on Beach Road for roughly an hour this afternoon before he was able to call for help.
Chief Nick Grove of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Company said the man, , who is in his 60s, sustained leg injuries.
Grove said the man’s legs were caught in the elevator’s chains, causing him to be trapped.
“He was face down in the hay,” Grove said.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after 2 p.m, other, nonemergency people already were cutting free the man.
He was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
