Woman injured when her car collides with a dump truck

A woman was critically injured this morning when her car collided with a one-ton dump truck in Slippery Rock Township, authorities said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

State police are investigating but an accident report was not immediately available. The wreck at Franklin Road, also known as Route 108, and Harmony Road occurred about 8:15 a.m.

Authorities believe the woman was driving her Oldsmobile north on Harmony Road and the other vehicle, a truck owned by a landscaping company that was pulling a skid loader, was traveling west on Franklin Road. The vehicle crashed at the intersection.

A passenger in the truck, an unidentified man, suffered minor injuries. He was taken by Slippery Rock Ambulance to Grove City Medical Center. The other driver was not hurt.

Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department assisted police and set up a landing zone for helicopter in a field at the crash scene, about one-half mile from the Slippery Rock University football stadium.
