Seneca teacher charged
JACKSON TWP — A Seneca Valley School District teacher is charged with felony possession of child pornography.
Jonathan Brecht, 26, of Wexford was arraigned Thursday in Pittsburgh after turning himself in. The charges were filed by the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office.
Brecht posted $100,000 bail and was released from the Allegheny County Jail.
Brecht is a math teacher at the middle school, according to the district’s website.
District officials escorted him off school property Wednesday when they learned about the allegations, said Jackson Township Police Chief Terry Seilhamer.
Seilhamer said the township police were not involved in the investigation, but they have his school computer and will see if there is any evidence of illegal activities at the school.
School officials and the district attorney’s office were not immediately available this morning for comment.
His preliminary hearing is at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.
