2 men accused of murder held for trial
Both defendants in a drugs and money robbery that ended in a hail of gunfire were held Tuesday for trial for murder.
One of the intruders, Jason T. McIntyre, 24, of Kittanning, was killed Jan. 22 when one of the renters of a house on Downieville Road in Adams Township shot him as he and an accomplice busted into the house with guns drawn.
The two defendants who survived the robbery attempt — McKinley W. Berry, 24, of Ford City, and getaway driver Jacob M. Adams, 24, of Kittanning — were arrested a day later.
At a preliminary hearing that stretched into this afternoon, District Judge Wayne Seibel ordered the two men held for trial on charges of second-degree murder, robbery, burglary and conspiracy to commit the crimes of felony murder and robbery.
Both defendants remain in the Butler County Prison on $1 million bail each.
Prosecutors earlier said that neither of the tenants was charged in the shooting because investigators believed they were defending themselves in their home.
