BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Rev. Millie Martsolf will provide special music and give the Sunday morning message at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will have a silent auction in the narthex Sunday to help with Laura Killby’s Jan. 3 mission trip expenses. Homemade food will also be for sale.

Graham crackers and saltines are the November food cupboard items.

The First English Lutheran Church work team will meet at 4 p.m. Monday.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

The men’s gathering of Christ’s Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Mac’s Route 8 Café, 16 Pittsburgh Road.

To make reservations for the Dec. 6 Christmas dinner following the worship service, call the church office at 724-283-8407 by Sunday.

The Monday night Bible study will resume Monday.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church holds service at McQuistion Elementary School.

The first Christmas card-making party will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.

The Laundromat Ministry outing will be Sunday after tear down. The group will meet about 12:45 p.m. in the lobby of the school.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will celebrate the Lord’s Supper during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. Betty Butler and family will light the first Advent candle.

The noisy offering will be received during the Sunday worship service.

Following the service Sunday, there will be an opportunity to craft wreaths. No experience will be needed, and materials will be provided.

FIRST CHURCH OF CHRIST, SCIENTIST

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, 120 W. Penn St., will have a Thanksgiving Day service at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church building. All are invited to share gratitude for blessings throughout the year. For more information, call 724-789-9034.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have a Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:30 p.m. today. The service will include interactive prayer stations, an anthem by the church choir directed by Harry Cunningham and special music with soloist Kevin Mathias on recorder.

GRACE@CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank at Grace@Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The church office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The first Sunday of Advent will be celebrated after morning worship Sunday with a tureen luncheon. Take a dish to share that will serve 8 to 10 people.

The midweek Advent light dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the social hall. A Bible study will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Ladies’ night out will be at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Rock Ann Haven, 141 Greenwood Drive.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

Beth Ackelson, Don and Debbie Horstman, Mark Schoenfeld, Kim Walker and Tabitha and Emily and Faith Snyder will provide special music for the Sunday worship service.

The first Sunday of Advent will be celebrated with an emphasis on hope Sunday.

HILL UNITED

Guest pastor the Rev. James Campbell will deliver the message on the first Sunday of Advent Sunday at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

There will be no Sunday school classes this week.

Volunteers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 2 for the Hanging of the Greens.

MARS UNITED

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, will celebrate the first Sunday of Advent with the lighting of the Hope candle. The Rev. William Jackson and the Rev. Terry Stoops will preach at both services Sunday. To celebrate the season of Advent, Communion will be served at both services.

SAINT ANDREWS

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will celebrate Holy Communion at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. After worship, there will be the Hanging of the Greens to decorate the church.

The adult Sunday school class will begin at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the church library.

Hunters interested in donating all or part of this season’s harvest to the Community Dinner Program should contact Bud Weckerly or the church office.

The Christmas Cookie Walk will be Dec. 12. Volunteers are needed to bake cookies, set up the evening before and work the day of the event. Sign up in the narthex, see Jeanne Wilson or Mary Lindenberg, or call the church office.

THE SOWER'S CHAPEL

The first candle of the Advent wreath will be lighted Sunday at the Sowers Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver, to recognize the beginning of Advent.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

Diane Petrack will be the lay guest pastor for the Sunday worship service at John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing. There will be a short congregational meeting after the service.

There will be a community Thanksgiving Eve worship service at 7:30 p.m. today at the Connoquenessing Methodist Church. The Rev. Jarrod Crawford will lead the service.

ST. LUKE'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

There will be no sewing ministry this week at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, because of Thanksgiving. It will resume at 6 p.m. Dec. 3.

The Christian Outreach & Evangelism Ministry will meet at 2 p.m. Friday to assemble the Christmas Float before Light-up Night

The first Sunday of Advent will be observed Sunday with a special candle-lighting service.

The Bell Choir will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH

The Rev. Ralph Storm will speak at the Sunday worship services of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St.

The church and church office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

SUMMIT PRESBYTERIAN

The office of Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Church members will decorate the church for Christmas at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Sunday worship will include Advent readings and a sermon about stewardship. Orders for Christmas poinsettias are due Sunday.

The first Advent luncheon will be at noon Tuesday in the fellowship hall.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The office at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will be closed Friday.

Sunday is the last day to donate gently used toys and books for the toy giveaway.

The Christian education meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

There will be a light supper at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the church followed by an Advent prayer service at 7 p.m.

The monthly women’s Bible study will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 3 in the choir room.
