Pittsburgh man accused of rape

He's arrested, in county prison

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — A Pittsburgh man is accused of raping a woman he met on a dating website.

State police Tuesday arrested Samuel K. Njuguna, 25, on charges he sexually assaulted the 21-year-old woman last week at her apartment in Slippery Rock Township.

Njuguna was arraigned on felony charges of rape and aggravated indecent assault and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault. He is in the Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail.

Police spoke to the alleged victim at Butler Memorial Hospital where she had gone after the suspected assault Thursday. The Butler Eagle is not identifying the woman due to the nature of the charges.

She told investigators that she and Njuguna communicated by text and social media after they first met three weeks earlier on the OkCupid website, according to court documents.

They eventually agreed to “hang out” Thursday evening at her apartment.

“(She) related that before they even went inside,” a police affidavit said, “she told him that she did not want to have intercourse with him because she barely knew him.”

The two eventually watched television in her bedroom and had consensual oral sex, documents said.

The accuser told police that Njuguna “started to get aggressive” and forced himself on her. She said he held her arms and raped her.

A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 9. Njuguna did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
