Police on lookout for truck after crash involving motorcycle
PENN TWP — Several police departments were notified this afternoon to be on the lookout for a tractor-trailer that drove away from the scene of an accident with a motorcycle on Route 8.
Bill Youngker of Valencia said he was driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the right lane of Route 8 southbound around 1 p.m. when he came up on a white tractor-trailer that was either stopped or moving very slowly near the intersection with Penn Drive.
He rear-ended the truck and slid out on a gravel driveway.
Youngker said he suffered road rash and has pain on his left side that he was going to have checked out at a hospital.
The tractor-trailer and another vehicle, that Youngker said was tailgating him at the time, both drove away before police arrived.
Officer Jack Ripper of Penn Township Police said that leaving the scene of an accident would be a criminal offense, but the driver might not have realized what had happened.
“I bet he didn't even feel it,” Ripper said.
Ripper said he notified neighboring departments to look for a tractor-trailer with a white trailer on the back and a black or orange mark from the motorcycle.
