Milford Myers

Milford “Jiggs” Duane Myers died in Bethesda, Md., on April 14.

Born in Karns City on May 7, 1921, he graduated from Butler High School and Penn State University.

In 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet Program. He served as an instrument flight instructor and B-29 aircraft commander in World War II.

Mr. Myers served as landscape architect at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda and U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare from 1956-1978. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 694 since 1946.

Jiggs is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, the former Consuelo Goehring; his daughter, Karen Stakes; and grandson, Keith Stakes, both of Bethesda; and his sister, Annabel Cress of Butler.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilda Barnett and Rosella Fleming.

MYERS — Burial for Milford “Jiggs” Duane Myers, who died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, will be later in Butler County Memorial Park.Funeral arrangements are handled by Pumphrey's Bethesda-Chevy Chase Funeral Home, which can be reached at 301-652-2200.
