Police identify, search for bank robber

Butler police have identified the man who walked into the Citizens Bank branch on North Main Street Tuesday morning and made off with money.

Police have an arrest warrant for Cyrus V. Smith of Butler Township.

Police put photographs of the robber from bank cameras on the department's Facebook page and police got information back identifying the image as that of Smith.

Police showed a photo lineup to the teller, who identified Smith as the robber, according to documents. Dalcamo also went to Smith's home in the 200 block of Homewood Drive. But instead of finding the suspect, Dalcamo found Smith's mother. She told the officer that she believed her son was at work.

Dalcamo showed her photos of the robber from the bank's security video.

“(Smith's mother) stated that she agreed that the person in the photographs was her son Cyrus Smith,” according to a police affidavit.
