Owner of plaza plans to expand

Commission gives the OK

JACKSON TWP — The owner of a shopping plaza along Route 19 who is planning to expand from six stores to 10, got the blessing of the township planners.

The plaza is located on 2 acres on the east side of Route 19, north of the intersection with Tollgate School Road.

The plaza is zoned for retail, warehouse and light industrial uses, said Tom Rectenwald, of Rectenwald Development, which owns the property.

There are three buildings on the property, totaling 29,419 square feet.

It currently has six tenants and has agreements in place with four new tenants who will move in once the renovations are complete later this year, Rectenwald said.

The planned new tenants are: The Perfect Piece Home Furnishing, Reef Gallery, Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Association and Allen and Shariff Engineering.

Rectenwald said that the location is attractive to businesses and the company hopes to propose a second phase that would expand the plaza later this year.

The township planning commission also approved the development plan for Murphy Tractor as a conditional use.

The property, which is owned by Creative Real Estate Development, lies on the east side of Route 19 adjacent to Indian Brave Campground and south of the intersection with Wise Road.

Landscape Architect Adrian Halterlein, of PVE Sheffler, said the property will be used by Murphy Tractor for retail, sales and heavy equipment rental.

The development will include a 44,000 square-foot store, and 6,000 square-foot storage shed.

Murphy Tractor is owned by Murphin Inc., which is based in Kansas, according to its website.

Murphy is one of John Deere’s largest North American construction equipment dealer organizations and has 28 locations total, including one in Cranberry Township.
