BlueSox handle Chillicothe
The Butler BlueSox pounded out 10 hits en route to earning a 7-3 Prospect League win over the Chillicothe Paints at VA Memorial Stadium.
It was the first time the BlueSox (36-19 overall, 21-6 second half) won at Chillicothe this year. It also kept Butler 2.5 games ahead of second-place West Virginia in the East Division second-half standings.
Butler has five games remaining on the regular season schedule. The team has never reached the Prospect League playoffs.
The BlueSox took a commanding 5-0 lead in the second inning. That was more than enough for starting pitcher Ben Hartz, who struck out four and allowed four hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.
Butler High School graduate Mick Fennell drove in two runs, while Stephen Sada, Russell Clark and Ryan Hanahan also added RBIs.
Chillicothe (37-18) scored all three of its runs in the ninth inning.
