Serious crash on Route 38

EAU CLAIRE — At least one person was seriously injured in a vehicle accident in Eau Claire, according to communications between rescuers and emergency dispatchers.
The crash happened at about 1:10 p.m. near the intersection of Route 38 and Cemetery Road. Initial reports indicated that the patient, who has not been identified, was not breathing when emergency crews arrived on scene.
A medical helicopter initially was called, but the patient was transported by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital. Route 38 has been shut down.
State police, Emlenton ambulance, the Eau Claire Volunteer Fire Department and the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company are on the scene.
