Missing hikers found safe at McConnells Mill
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — Two hikers missing at McConnells Mill State Park for more than two hours were found safe and sound late Monday night, authorities said.
The hikers, a man and woman in their 20s, had gone to the park just west of the Butler County line with another couple earlier that evening. At some point the foursome separated.
At 9 p.m., the Lawrence County Communication Center was notified, according to a 911 dispatcher. State police and rescuers were sent to look for the wayward hikers in the area of a trail cut along Slippery Rock Creek.
The pair was found about 11:30 p.m.
Assisting police were volunteer firefighters from Slippery Rock Township and Scott Township in Lawrence County.
