Fire destroys mobile home in Clay Twp
CLAY TWP — A fire erupted in a mobile home on Mizener Lane Tuesday afternoon.
The blaze that began around 1:20 p.m. burnt half of the structure and all its contents.
The West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department was the lead department, while departments from Center, Marion, and Slippery Rock townships and Harrisville assisted.
Matt Wilson a lieutenant with West Sunbury, said more than 20 firefighters were able to control the fire in about 20 minutes, but too much damage had been done by that point.
“It was a total loss,” Wilson said.
He estimated at least $30,000 in damages to the structure and $10,000 in losses from the contents.
The Red Cross was notified to assist the home’s tenant, Bonnie English.
Gary McDougall, the owner of the home and a neighbor to the residence, said English had lived there since 2011.
“It really hurts when it’s a total loss,” McDougall said.
Wilson said he was not sure of the cause of the fire.
