Crash on I-79 kills 1 this morning
CRANBERRY TWP — A crash this morning on Interstate 79 left one dead and at least one person critically injured, according to county emergency dispatches.
The accident, which happened at 10 a.m. appeared to involve an RV or motor home and a small car, which emergency response workers had covered with a red tarpaulin, according to a witness at the scene.
Traffic in the northbound lane of I-79 was stopped at the crash site, which was about 2.5 miles north of I-79’s intersection with Route 228.
Shortly after 11 a.m., the vehicles involved were off the highway in the median between the north and southbound lanes.
State police, Cranberry police and several fire departments and ambulances responded to the scene.
