Layoffs continue at Joy Mining in Franklin
FRANKLIN — A company that manufactures mining machinery has laid off 57 workers since last week, meaning the company has cut more than 110 workers since August.
Joy Mining Machinery laid off 42 workers on Monday, in addition to 15 union worker furloughed last week. The company has laid off 115 workers since August, all members of the International Association of Machinists.
The company has laid off 12 non-union supervisory workers during the same period.
The Franklin company is one of several owned by Joy Global Inc. of Milwaukee, Wis.
