Butler County man pleads guilty in fraud case



PITTSBURGH — A former mortgage broker from Franklin Township on Friday pleaded guilty to a bank fraud in U.S. District Court.
Jeffrey Garbinski, 44, reportedly defrauded lenders through two businesses, Asset Mortgage and Financial Services Inc. and the Closing Co. of Pennsylvania, by submitting statements falsely representing that money from those lenders was paying liabilities associated with the collateral.
However, Garbinski allegedly spent that money for his personal use, including investing in an unrelated business.
Garbinski also allegedly concealed the illicit use of funds from the title insurance company that audited the Closing Co.
