Karns City whips Chestnut Ridge in playoff game
CLARION — Karns City was on the short end of most of the stats Friday night in its football playoff game against Chestnut Ridge, except the one on the score board.
It won 35-29 to advance to the second round of the PIAA Class AA playoffs where it will face Aliquippa.
Chestnut outgained Karns City by 100 yards, and it had twice as many first downs. Also Karns City did not score an offensive touchdown in the second half.
But a kick off return for a touchdown and a 6-yard fumble return for a touchdown gave Karns City the edge to win.
The victory also marks the 150th career win for Karns City coach Ed Conto.
