Events will help victim of shooting

Friends of gunshot victim Adam Christy are asking the community to show their support through several planned benefits and fundraisers.

One event is the Adam Christy Benefit and Birthday Bash at The Brick House in Butler at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Bartender Adam Christy suffered two gunshot wounds to the abdomen during an altercation at Island Bar Jan. 2. He remains hospitalized at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following multiple surgeries.

Friend and one benefit organizer, Leroy Fair, said Christy is doing much better than he was a month ago, but admits he has a long road ahead, both physically and financially.

Fair described Christy as a guy with "a big heart and a lot of drive that everyone just wants to help out."

Fair said Christy's family never asked for any help through all of this, just prayers, but that he and the other organizers hope to "help ease the burden Adam faces in the next few months."

Also planned is a blood drive Feb. 21 at the Elks Lodge. Those wishing to donate can preregister online at www.centralbloodbank.org with the sponsor code ZRTN0610.

Tickets for the Feb. 13 benefit can be bought for $15 at The Brick House; Eau Claire Sports Bar; Benjamin Beetle; or Cummings Coffee and will cost $20 if purchased at the door.
