Wife accused of death threat

Police: Scissors used in attack

MUDDY CREEK TWP — A township woman remains jailed on charges she attacked her husband with a pair of scissors, state police said.

Shelly McNamee, 39, allegedly tried to stab Shawn McNamee Friday night during an argument at their home on Sunset Ridge Road.

She told her husband she would "sink the scissors deep into his chest and that she would kill him," according to court documents.

Shawn McNamee was able to avoid being stabbed, but he cut himself on the hand when he grabbed the scissors, police said.

When Shelly McNamee left the living room and returned with two knives, her husband fled their home and called 911.

Police later arrested Shelly McNamee, who was arraigned Saturday on felony and misdemeanor counts of assault and charges of terroristic threats and harassment.

She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail, following arraignment.

The Friday night incident came just hours after Shelly McNamee and a neighbor allegedly schemed to get a prescription drug used to treat anxiety.

Cranberry Township police said McNamee about 11 a.m. Friday convinced Ronald Eugene Miller, 64, to call the Costco pharmacy in Cranberry and pretend to be her doctor.

McNamee wanted an unapproved refill of her Xanax prescription. The pharmacist became suspicious and contacted the defendant's doctor, charging documents said.

Police were called and officers were waiting for McNamee when she came to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription.

Police on Monday charged McNamee and Miller with criminal use of a communication facility, conspiracy and fraudulent acquisition of a controlled substance.

Miller is free on his own recognizance.
