Lois ‘Toots’ McCurdy

Lois Anne “Toots” Anderson McCurdy, 90, of Prospect, peacefully passed away Saturday evening, Dec. 6, 2025, at Concordia at the Orchard, in Butler, while under hospice care.

Born May 10, 1935, in Prospect, she was the daughter of Clark and Marie Neely Anderson.

She was a 1953 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, where in the eighth grade she received the Peterson School of Penmanship award.

Early on, she worked at the former Magnetics in East Butler and then she began a career as a bus driver for Butler and Slippery Rock area school districts. In the mid-1970s, she drove for the former Bryan’s Bus Co., and then in 1999, received the Safe Driver Award from Laidlaw Bus Co. and later retired from STA Bus Company.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect.

Toots enjoyed traveling, bus trips, going to casinos, and everything NASCAR. She loved collecting antiques, glassware and milk bottles.

She is survived by her children, David E. McCurdy of Prospect and Katherine (Art) Kimble of Valley Center, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E McCurdy, who passed away in 1994; two brothers, Earl Anderson and Roy Anderson; and two sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Elsie Craig.

MCCURDY — Visitation for Lois Anne “Toots” Anderson McCurdy, who died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, will be from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with lay worship leader Betsy Forrester, of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect, officiating.

The committal service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in Greenlawn Burial Estates, 731 W. Old Route 422, Butler.
