Butler man, woman charged in possible overdose near children
A Butler man and woman were charged with child endangerment after Butler Township police say they responded to a possible overdose at a Colonial Avenue residence.
Shanna R. Rock, 33, and Joshua C. Rock, 31, were charged Monday, July 14, with misdemeanor child endangerment following an alleged July 9 incident.
Police said they were called to a residence on Colonial Avenue for reports of a woman who had possibly overdosed. Police arrived and found two children, age 8 and 5, sitting outside the residence.
Police entered the residence and found Joshua Rock upstairs on the floor outside a bathroom holding Shanna Rock. He told police the children found her unresponsive. Butler Ambulance Service then arrived and transported Shanna Rock to Butler Memorial Hospital.
Police said they located a partial blue stamp bag and two straws with residue on the bathroom shelf and partial blue stamp bags on the sink and floor.
In one bedroom, police said they found more empty stamp bags and aluminum foil with residue on top of a dresser. More empty stamp bags were found on the dresser and floor of another bedroom. A small amount of marijuana and three straws with residue also was found.
Police said the drug paraphernalia was easily accessible to and within reach of the children.
Preliminary hearings for Shanna Rock and Joshua Rock before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell are yet to be scheduled.
