Patton picks up PAC track honors

TRAFFORD — Moniteau graduate and Westminster College senior Jacob Patton has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Patton recorded a runner-up finish in the heptathlon at Youngstown State University’s Mid-Major Invitational last weekend. He totaled a school-record 4,677 points in the seven-event competition, finishing 13 points behind Frostburg State’s Marquise Burks.

Patton ranks 15th in all of Division III in the heptathlon. He won the 60-meter hurdles and 1,000 meters at the Invite.

Pittsburgh Steeltoes ready for debut

PITTSBURGH — Highmark Stadium will play host to the Pittsburgh Steeltoes, the city’s new professional rugby franchise, this summer.

The Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s) expansion franchise will host the Eastern Conference Finals on July 23. The festival-style tournament will feature men’s and women’s teams for the Steeltoes, Texas Team, Southern Headliners and New York Locals.
