North Catholic rolls past Blackhawk

Andrew Maddalon and Matt Ellery combined for nine treys Friday night in leading North Catholic to an 89-54 boys basketball victory over Blackhawk.

Max Hurray led the Trojans (8-5, 4-1) with 26 points. Maddalon contributed 24 and Ellery 17. North Catholic has won four consecutive games.

Blackhawk fell to 7-5 overall, 3-2 in section play, and was led by Jacob Patton’s 15 points.

The Trojans travel to Beaver on Tuesday night.

Hampton 60, Knoch 45 — The Knights (4-9, 2-1) took their first section loss while Hampton (11-2, 4-0) stayed unbeaten in league play. The Talbots have won five straight games and nine of their last 10. Knoch pulled within 22-21 late in the first half before Hampton closed the second quarter on an 8-0 run and was not challenged again.

Jackson Bauman led Knoch with 12 points while Derek Lang netted nine. Lang sank three treys in the second quarter.

Knoch hosts Highlands on Tuesday.

Karns City 53, A-C Valley 47 — Micah Rupp netted 18 points and Braden Grossman 11 as the Gremlins improved to 9-2. Karns City trailed by three points at halftime before outscoring the Falcons by nine in the third period.

Alex Preston led A-C Valley with 17 points while Jay Clover scored 15.

Imani Christian 92, Summit Academy 49 — The Knights (6-3, 2-2) were outscored 30-14 in the first quarter and 43-16 in the second half. Allen Grimes and Elijah Adams scored 18 points each for Summit.

Nate Brazil scored 21 points, Dane Givner 17 and Virgil Hall 15 for Imani Christian. Summit Academy plays at The Neighborhood Academy on Tuesday.

Bowling

Butler split its matches at Deer Lakes, the Golden Tornado boys moving to 7-0 with a 7-0 win while the girls slipped to 5-2 with a 7-0 loss.

Luke Keene led Butler’s boys with a 695 series. Eric DeVore shot a 694, Alex Ekas a 614 and Rocco Rice a 608. Deer Lakes fell to 2-5.

Kelsee McConnell led the Tornado girls with a 538 series. Natalie Coughenour rolled a 201 game and 509 series. Deer Lakes’ girls are 7-0 in the season.

Butler hosts Shaler at Family Bowlaway on Wednesday. A boys win will clinch the WPIBL North Section title. A Butler girls victory will clinch a playoff spot.

Swimming

Slippery Rock’s girls improved to 4-0 Thursday with a 96.5-73.5 victory over Titusville. The Rocket boys slipped to 0-4 with a 93.5-62 loss.
