A boil water advisory for Pennsylvania American Water customers in parts of Butler, Butler Township and Center Township will remain in place at least until Sunday while crews work to repair a broken water main along Delwood Road in Butler Township.

Until water service is restored, Pennsylvania American Water is providing customers with water from a tanker in the parking lot of the Clearview Mall. Customers must bring their own containers.

Under the advisory, any water to be used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute. Water can be used for bathing, washing and other common uses.

The line broke around 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, and rendered a nearby storage tank out of service. Only customers served by that water tank are affected by the outage.

A map of the impacted area is available on Pennsylvania American’s website at alertsdetail.awapps.com/alert/12138.

Once the repairs are made, the water must clear two rounds of sampling before the advisory can be lifted, said Gary Lobaugh, Pennsylvania American spokesman. Sunday morning is the earliest the advisory can be lifted, he said.

Crews are currently making emergency repairs on a water main along Delwood Road. As a result, customers may experience no water, low water pressure, or discolored water. When service is restored, customers may experience cloudy or discolored water. The company advises that if your water is discolored, wait until it runs clear before using.
