Read scores 3 in SV hockey win

WARRENDALE — Jackson Read scored three goals Monday night as Seneca Valley’s varsity hockey team defeated Pine-Richland, 4-1. Marshall Hewitt also scored for the Raiders (7-1-1).

Jack Smelscer and Johnathon Leishman had two assists each. Johnathan Nichols made 22 saves in goal. Seneca Valley hosts Bethel Park on Monday.

Coffield, Howell in All-Star Game

ADAMS TWP — Mars senior midfielder Piper Coffield and defender Gwen Howell will be playing in the 2022 High School All-American Girls Soccer Game at 11 a.m. Dec. 10 in Panama City, Fla.

Coffield and Howell will represent Western Pennsylvania on the East girls team, made up of high school players from Maine, Maryland, Massacusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C.

Both players were All-WPIAL this season. Coffield will continue her soccer career at Indiana University while Howell will be playing for the University of Richmond.
