Agnes M. Watson
Agnes M. Watson, 91, of Evans City, passed away peacefully in the compassionate care of Passavant Retirement Center in Zelienople on June 25, 2022.
Born on Oct. 19, 1930, she was raised in Wilkinsburg and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School.
She married the love of her life, Robert H. Watson, on June 16, 1951, and they made their home in Evans City. Her husband died on Dec. 24, 1979. She is also preceded in death by her parents, James H. Hoffmann and Helena M. Drenning Hoffmann; her sister, Katherine Hoffmann Klitz; and her brother, James A. Hoffmann.
She is survived by her three children, Dennis Watson (Joan) of West View, Helen Barto (Paul) of Evans City, and Robert H. Watson II (Mary) of Harmony; nine grandchildren, Suzanne Watson Kumar of New York, N.Y., Margaret Watson Brittain of Chesterfield, N.J., Dennis Watson Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Henry Watson of College Grove, Tenn., Paul Barto of Harmony, Christina Barto Dwyer of Whitehall, Mont., Catherine Barto Kistler of Pittsburgh, Robert Watson III of Houston, Texas, and Emily Wernicke of Cranford, N.J.; 17 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom have treasured memories of her loving touch.
Agnes was employed by Callery Chemical Company for 40 years as an executive secretary.
She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Evans City, having served in various positions, including council president. She was a member of Bethlehem Chapter 37 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron and district deputy, a past president of the Pennsylvania Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary, and was involved in numerous other community and professional organizations.
The family thanks the loving caregivers at RoseCrest Assisted Living, Passavant Retirement Center, and Lutheran SeniorLife for the care and compassion they showed Agnes upon being entrusted with our precious mother, grandmother and Gigi.
WATSON — Friends and family of Agnes M. Watson, who died Saturday, June 25, 2022, will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 202 Van Buren St., Evans City.
Agnes will be laid to rest at Evans City Cemetery, immediately following the funeral service.
