Kay Curtis

Curtis

Kay Leann Dowling Curtis, 71, of Butler, entered the presence of the Lord into her heavenly home early Sunday morning, Feb. 13, 2022, after an illness with her family by her side.

Born July 28, 1950, in Cambridge, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Carl L. and Isabel I. Mendenhall Dowling.

During her earlier years while living in Caldwell, Ohio, she worked as a store clerk. She enjoyed volunteering in schools, and farming.

In her later years, she resided in Butler, where she retired from Preferred Physical Therapy in Butler.

She was a faithful member of the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, where she was loved as the preacher’s wife, sang in the choir, played in the bell choir, taught Sunday school and Bible studies, and was a Stephen Minister. Kay loved the Lord, never lost hope, and truly showed all of us how to steady the course and walk with the Lord against all adversity.

Kay loved her family, cooking, canning and the outdoors. She enjoyed nature at Moraine State Park, gardening (“dirt therapy”), flowers, sewing and traveling. God blessed Kay with the gifts of hospitality, gardening, baking and cooking, and she generously shared these gifts with so many people.

Kay was the best of everything. She loved to laugh, and her smile would brighten up a room and everyone around her. Oh how she loved to dance, especially with the grandchildren. She was the sweetest friend you could’ve had. Kay was truly one of God’s treasures on Earth.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey A. Curtis, whom she married June 21, 1998, in Butler; her children, Christopher (Suzanne) Clark of Caldwell, Ohio, and Julianna (Don) Walters of Lufkin, Texas; her grandchildren, Waylon, Wyatt, Jaylon, Daylon, Shariah, Amelia, Nathan, Stephen, Rachel, Lydia, Moses, Mary, Daniel and Henry; her husband Jeff’s children, Daniel Curtis, Becky (Chris) Orr, Sarah (Gerald) Knepp and Abby (David) Marr; and her siblings, Maureen Schultice of Caldwell, Ohio, and Lamar (Janice) Dowling of Caldwell, Ohio; and a number of nieces, nephews and treasured friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carla Schott.
