Police: Multiple drugs found in city apartment, tenant charged

Late Tuesday night, the Butler County Drug Task Force raided an apartment on the 300 block of West Diamond Street in Butler, and later charged its tenant with multiple drug-related offenses.

Carol A. Chambers, 44, was found inside the home as police entered with a search warrant. She was arrested at the scene and arraigned by District Judge Sue Haggerty.

Chambers was taken to Butler County Prison, where she is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. She is charged with felony drug sales and misdemeanor drug possession and drug paraphernalia possession.

According to charging documents, police found identification for Chambers inside the apartment, where they also found 148 stamp bags of heroin, 4.39 grams of crystal meth and a small amount of crack cocaine.

“Both the crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine were field tested and tested positive for their respective drugs,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit. “The heroin was not field tested for safety concerns of fentanyl exposure.”

Police said the possible heroin or fentanyl will be sent to the Pennsylvania State Police crime lab in Greensburg for analysis.

Additionally, police said they found a digital scale, a crack pipe, two cellphones and $275. Police said some of the bills were prerecorded and tracked as part of their investigation.

Court records show Chambers is in the midst of a 12-month sentence of probation, stemming from her pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession in September 2021.

For her recent charges, Chambers is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing March 7 before District Judge William Fullerton.
