BlueSox fall to Ironmen; Sliders drop RiverRats
LORAIN, Ohio — Taylor Schmidt had a triple and scored a pair of runs and Matt Peters drove in three, but a rally by the Butler BlueSox fell short in a 13-7 loss to Lorain County in Prospect League baseball action Thursday.
Alex Jurich added an RBI double for Butler (25-20), which fell behind 10-2 before closing the gap to 10-7 after seven innings.
The Ironmen, though, added three more in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the game out of reach.
Slippery Rock 5, Richmond 4 — David Wilson pitched seven strong innings and Dan Hurlimann drove in a pair of runs to lead the Sliders (20-25).
Wilson gave up just one earned run in seven innings of work, striking out three and walking just one.
Ryan Furtney picked up the save with a scoreless ninth for Slippery Rock.
