Metcalfe stance insulting

Our state representative for the 12th District, Daryl Metcalfe, recently held up a "non-controversial" House resolution that he had voted for for the last several years because he found it to contain language to "advance the homosexual agenda."

This representative is holding firm and preventing our state House from recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As Metalfe insults the many victims of domestic violence, he also insults the constituents of this area who would certainly support this resolution in the language presented, without having to see a "homosexual agenda" anywhere in the support of the victims of domestic violence, which encompasses women, children and men.

Oh, and by the way, this same representative voted against a bill (that passed) that would raise the marriage license fee to $28 from $3, with the new money going to a fund to aid domestic violence victims, like family members who need help to get a roof over their heads, or food to eat after leaving an abusive situation.

This legislator called the bill a "slap in the face of family values." His words ring painfully in the ears of folks who have had literal slaps on their faces from families with poor values.

And his words and votes ask us whether he really represents the true family values of the 12th District.
