Peter Vincent Croft, ex-Penreco president

Peter Vincent Croft, 72, of Butler died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 5, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of John H. Croft and Irene Goldthwaite Croft.

Mr. Croft grew up in Crafton and attended Crafton High School. After graduation, he served in the Air National Guard as an Airman 2nd Class in the 112th Consolidated Aircraft Squadron.

In 1957, Mr. Croft earned a degree in political science from Allegheny College in Meadville. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He also played football in high school and college.

Mr. Croft became the president of Penreco and later was senior vice president of the Pennzoil Co. in Houston, Texas. He retired from Pennzoil in 1989.

He was a member of the Grand Lodge Ohio and the Masons Ellsworth Lodge 505. He enjoyed golf all his life.Mr. Croft was a Christian Scientist.He is survived by his wife, Pamela K. Croft, whom he married Nov. 30, 1989; a son, John H. Croft and his wife, Susan, of Boston; two daughters, Mrs. Christopher (Judy) Gee of Houston, Texas, and Victoria A. Croft of Butler; and four grandchildren, Jayme and Jenny Gee, and Carson and Jarrett Croft.Mr. Croft was previously married to Janet Houghton Loughran of Houston for 30 years.
